Plant Based in Vancouver
I am a huge foodie at heart so when it comes to traveling, the first thing I do is to get on my research for all vegan and veg-friendly spots. Being Canadian, I’ve missed my poutine dearly! It’s been almost 20 years since I've moved away and being plant based, it makes it even harder to find a non dairy but still delicious bowl of comfort. MEET is my number one go to and no joke, I've eaten there 4 times already in the span of a week...I wish I could bring it back to San Francisco with me. My boyfriend and I had a good week here to explore so below are a few vegan spots plus a few tips on how to eat out at some of our favorite restaurants in Vancouver. Can I just go on record and say, I love Canada so much and it really feels good to be back.

Eating out can seem tough when you are plant based or trying to stick to a healthier lifestyle. But it is really not that difficult once you apply these tips.
ALWAYS ASK FOR A VEGAN or VEG FRIENDLY MENU. You'll be surprised how many restaurants will have one or can modify items to cater to your needs. Chefs love to explore ways to cook when they are able to. This is totally based on my experiences with restaurants/chefs
Ask to put dressing on the side, less salt and oil added, sub dairy (e.g. milk, cream, butter) for non dairy milk (e.g. coconut, oat, no butter)
Look for greens, legumes, and grains! If the menu is full of meat and dairy, create your own plate by ordering different side options
Plan ahead when you eat out and see what the menu prior to committing
